Good news came Matt's way a few days ago as he learned that he will be signing with the York Revolution, an expansion team for Independent baseball. He will be playing in the Atlantic League in York, Pennsylvania, one of the tougher and more competitive leagues. He leaves for spring training April 23rd and will travel to Lakeland, Florida for 2 weeks before beginning the season May 4th. A schedule of games and other information about the Revolution can be seen at the team website www.yorkrevoultion.com.

As the regular season approaches teams are trimming down their rosters and looking for their everyday starters. Opening day is only 4 days away as the defending St. Louis Cardinals will take on the New York Mets in a rematch of last years National League Championship Series. In Jason's most recent start, he ran into some trouble against the Oakland A's. He went 6 innings giving up 6 hits, 6 runs, and 1 walk en route to his first loss of spring training. He also surrendered home runs to Eric Chavez, Milton Bradley, and Nick Swisher. He will make one final tune-up start before the regular season gets under way. His first start will come April 6th against the San Diego Padres in San Diego. He will make his second start of the season April 11th in his hometown of Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
Things aren't looking well for Matt at the moment as MLB teams are still in spring training and thus not looking to sign anybody. He will most likely have to pitch in the Independent Leagues this summer and hopefully get signed out of there. He still has a positive outlook however and is continuing to work out and stay in shape.

Jason took the mound again yesterday for the Rockies, however, it was against the Cubs Triple-A affiliate the Iowa Cubs. He went 6 innings giving up 5 runs and striking out 3. He was informed by manager Clint Hurdle that he would be the number 4 pitcher in the starting rotation for the 2007 season. The Rockies open their season against the Arizona Diamondbacks at home with a 3 game series. Their first road trip is scheduled to begin in San Diego for a 3 game set followed by another 3 game series with the Dodgers. Jason will most likely start the first road game of the season in San Diego.
Well it seems as if Matt has suffered from deja vu. Unfortunately, Matt was released from spring training yesterday with the Cardinals. He flew home yesterday and will continue to look for another team to play for this season. It is possible he might play for an independant league team but details are yet to be figured out.
